POLICIES FOR TUTORING
I meet with students for half hour, forty-five minute or hour sessions. These generally take place once a week. In some instances, every other week is established. Since I meet students back to back, it is not generally possible to have extra time for extended discussions. When I do NOT have a student immediately following, I am happy to provide additional time. In fact, since I am not a ‘clock watcher’, you may need to prompt me to get out on time.
I understand that lives are hectic and unscheduled events occur. Please notify me as soon as possible if you are unable to take a lesson. I do not charge for lessons cancelled for emergencies, or for illness. In fact, IF YOU ARE ILL, DO NOT COME for a lesson. I do charge for no shows and for lessons that are missed without cause. If you have a concern due to weather, contact me as I will contact you if the weather is bad in my neighborhood. Lessons by ZOOM are an option in normal times and the only option during COVID 19. Be certain to let me know of vacation plans and school or extra curricular activities that will keep you from your scheduled lesson. I will try to reschedule for you. At the very least, you will not be charged when I know in advance that you are not available.

I DO NOT charge for:
- the time I spend recording and sending portions, prayers, etc,
- for brief consultations/conversations (under 10 minutes),
- for general email exchanges,
- or for meetings and coordinating with the other officiants
I DO charge for:
- service meetings with the family (if I am officiant, cantor or musician, the meeting to set the service is charged, additional meetings are rolled into the service fee).
- rehearsals
- writing, reviewing or proofing a service booklet, (if I am the officiant, this is included in the fee)
- and time spent helping the student write the dvar (speech) - much of that takes place over the internet. If you are trying to budget, I stop charging after I have spent two hours of time.
- support person (non-officiant) at service. This fee is recognition that by attending your service, I cannot officiate elsewhere.
